Here's why you should know what your feet say about your Liver Health according to experts

Do you care about your feet? It sounds awkward to ask, but your feet reveal a lot about your overall health. The heart sends down blood to the feet and then back through the vascular system and, if the heart or liver has a problem, the vascular problem will have a problem. You will notice it at the lower leg because of the poor circulation. By the time you notice changes on your feet, this means your liver is in danger. Seek medical attention immediately you see the signs.

Ways your feet will tell that your liver is in trouble

Spider veins on the feet

Spider veins or spider nevus are spider-like dilated vessels clustered together on the surface of your skin. Spider veins appear when there are too many estrogens in your system caused by pregnancy or liver damage. These are because of the enlargement of the arterioles, the branches that stem from your arteries to your capillaries. If you observe spider veins on your feet, your liver might be in trouble and needs attention.

Itching feet

Do you find yourself constantly scratching the bottom of your feet? Itchy soles of the feet may be due to a congested liver which indicates danger.

Red dots

The red dots on your feet may appear smaller or larger and a little shiny. They are usually on the lower leg and, this means poor blood circulation. If you notice these red dots, talk to your doctor because your liver might be in danger.

Pain on the feet

Pain or inflammation in the bottom of the foot may indicate a liver problem. Seek medical advice.

Pitting edema

When you press your finger into the lower leg, it leaves a dent that stays for long, which means there is excess fluid buildup. Pitting edema may indicate liver damage.

Feet odor

Smelly feet may indicate a liver problem. The odor occurs because your liver cannot correctly detoxify and, its backs up through the skin. Sometimes it may be due to a poor diet, for example, diets high in refined carbohydrates, which often serve as food for bacteria and fungus in the body. The large intestine and the kidneys get backed up with garbage which then comes out through the skin. The body intends to rid itself of bacteria through dead skin cells, which collect in the skin of the foot through perspiration. You cannot have an unhealthy liver and have a healthy large intestine or kidney.

Toenail fungus

This condition is also known as Terry's nails. If the nails appear white with darker rims, this may indicate that your liver is in danger. Toenail fungus may indicate liver diseases such as, hepatitis. Seek medical attention immediately.

Cracked heels

Cracked heels may be alerting you that the liver is in danger and, this could signify B3 vitamin deficiency (pellagra) or an omega3 fatty acid deficiency. The liver produces bile and absorbs these fatty acids. It also absorbs vitamin A, vitamin B, and vitamin E (fat-soluble vitamins) involved in the skin.

Burning sensation on the feet

The burning sensation may be due to an inflammation in the liver. Seek medical attention immediately.

Summary

Your feet reveal a lot about your overall health. Be vigilant as you notice rare changes on your feet. If you experience all of the above symptoms, please see your doctor as soon as possible to prevent severe complications.
