Keep your skin beautiful the right way

The skin is the largest organ that covers the body. It protects the body against heat, light, injury, infection and it also regulates body temperature. It needs care and maintenance to properly function well. Below are some of the practices you can do to care for your skin.

 Stay hydrated

Drinking enough water is vital for overall skin health. By staying hydrated, your skin keeps moisturized, healthy, and glowing. I recommend warm water because it relaxes the body and increases blood circulation. This results in a cleaner skin complexion increase in its elasticity, toning and freeing the skin hence smoothening the wrinkles.

Wash your face twice a day

Use lukewarm water to rinse your skin. Lukewarm water helps to loosen dirt but preserves your skin′s natural hydrating oils.

Get regular facials

If possible, get regular facials. It is one of the best ways to maintain healthy, glowing skin. Aim for one facial a month which falls in time with your skin cells′ natural renewal cycle.

Moisturize properly after washing your face

To moisturize your skin, the application of skincare products right after bathing is another way. The skincare products keep the skin smooth.

Eat to nourish the skin

Eat fresh fruits, greens, sufficient protein, and vitamins. Fruits and vegetables are antioxidants. Vitamin C protects against environmental aggressors, brightens skin tone, and promotes collagen and elastin production.

Use aloe Vera to keep a strong and healthy skin

Not only does aloe Vera have healing properties, but it may also stimulate new cell growth.

Practice a facial massage routine

Not only does it feel enjoyable, but it can also lessen tension and increase circulation hence keeping skin cells healthy and helping in lymphatic drainage.

Exfoliate your skin

Exfoliate your skin lightly at least once or twice a week with a non-irritating acid cleanser or toner that dissolves dead skin cells on the surface. Exfoliation will lead to a healthy glow and brighter skin. Removing the outer layer of dead skin cells will help obtain a smooth skin texture, increase the absorption rate of your skincare products and brighten up your complexion.

Keep skin microbiome balanced

A healthy, balanced skin microbiome is essential in maintaining healthy, balanced skin. These microscopic bacteria keep skin hydrated and supple, fight free radicals, stave off infection and even protect against harmful UV rays.

Avoid harsh soaps and scrubs, which may strip away the essential oils and bacteria that make up the skin microbiome. Use skincare products specifically formulated to boost the skin microbiome (those that contain pre and probiotics).

Try supplementing collagen

Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body and your skin. But as we age, collagen depletes. Collagen supplements contain amino acids which promote our hair, skin, and nail health.

By ingesting hydrolyzed collagen peptides, the body absorbs the supplements which support the skin′s cellular renewal process, stimulating our cell′s fibroblasts (or what makes collagen and elastin in the body), thereby promoting a healthy, glowing, firm complexion.

Do not smoke

Smoking affects the whole body, which includes the skin. Research studies have shown that smoking restricts oxygen supply to the skin, increases the build-up of damaging free radicals, and increases the risk of some skin cancers.

Take good care of your gut

Foods that will damage your gut (sugar, processed food) may also damage your skin. So care about the gut by doing the following;

  • Take care of the gut by finding your particular food sensitivities

  • Cut out sugar

  • Add gut nourishing foods

  • Have the right probiotic supplements and omega- 3 fatty acids to manage inflammation

  • Stay hydrated

  • Manage stress

Protect yourself from the sun

Use a safe, mineral-based sunscreen. Ultraviolet radiation is carcinogenic, and if you do not care about cancer, think vanity. UV rays are the primary cause of the texture and color changes of skin aging. To protect your skin, Waldorf recommends using a mineral-based sunscreen (look for active ingredients like zinc oxide or titanium dioxide) that is SPF 30 or higher and applying it as the final step in your skincare routine every morning.

Outline

By staying hydrated, your skin keeps moisturized, healthy, and glowing. Washing your face with lukewarm water helps to loosen dirt but preserves your skin′s natural hydrating oils. Get regular facials to maintain healthy, glowing skin. Eat to nourish skin and keep your skin microbiome balanced. Take good care of your gut and protect yourself from the sun.
